Overview
Aysar Junior is a Quran learning organization for children in Singapore.
As the organization recognized the need to be more accessible online, they began paying closer attention to how their website represents their business and encourages parents to register their children for Aysar Junior programs.
The goal was not only to improve the visual appearance, but also to ensure the website is easy to manage by their internal team, without introducing a new learning curve for administrators.
The Situation
At the start of the project, Aysar Junior felt that their existing website did not fully represent their organization and came across as “too plain.” While they had made several attempts to update the site, the use of Divi introduced friction that made ongoing improvements inefficient.
At the same time, the team did not have the capacity to step back and evaluate what was working, what needed improvement, and how the website could better support their goals. To help create clarity, I prepared a structured review document that analyzed each page individually, highlighting existing strengths and identifying opportunities for improvement. This document became a shared reference point, allowing us to align on priorities and move forward with a clearer direction.
The Process
From the IA, Design to the Actual Website
The project was completed within a two-week timeframe, during which I handled both the design and development of the website.
I began by defining the information architecture—designing the menu structure and outlining the content hierarchy. This step was intended to help the client clearly understand how information would be presented and organized on the new website.
With this structure in place, the client was able to provide more focused and constructive feedback, as they now had a clearer picture of how their website would function and communicate.
While awaiting final confirmation, I conducted research to identify a WordPress theme that would best support their needs—one that aligned with their brand, supported the required layout, and remained easy for the internal team to manage.
The final design decisions were made with these considerations in mind, ensuring a balance between visual clarity, usability, and long-term maintainability.
Key considerations when selecting the theme:
-
Parent perspective
I approached the selection process from a parent’s point of view, identifying what information matters most and how easily it can be found and understood. -
Brand positioning
I evaluated how the organization wants to be perceived: whether as a strictly formal institution or a professional yet approachable learning environment. -
Communication style
I considered how the organization communicates with parents, ensuring the theme supports a tone that feels clear, reassuring, and aligned with their values.
The Outcome
I implement the design after the client accept for the first draft. From there, I add some of the interaction and content, to make sure the journey of the parents in Aysar’s website is meaningful.
I work on the first page to make sure the layout and the color combination is meet their expectation. After that, I do the rest of the page by implementing the layout and design style from the homepage.
I also work together with the client to make sure the content is also align with their value. And here’s the final website:
Overall design and layout semua terbaik!
